Born on 1st June 1953, at Vendodu village, Gudur in Nellore district, is M.Sc., Ph.D in Zoology from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. He has specialized on Neuroscience, Environmental Toxicology, Pharmacology, and Animal Ecology, and brings to bear on the office of Vice-Chancellor his rich and varied experience in teaching, research and development for over 32 years. A University Gold Medalist in M.Sc., (Zoology-Neurophysiology) in 1975, Prof. Reddy was awarded Ph.D in Radiation Biology from S.V. University, Tirupati, in 1979. Never leaving the ennobled path of learning, Prof. Reddy is currently pursuing D.Sc (Zoology) from Berhampur University. 

On his being appointed the Vice-Chancellor, Vikrama Simhapuri University, he has been the Professor in the Department of Zoology, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. He held several important positions in Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati: Dean, Resource Mobilization; Coordinator, DRDO Research Programmes; Chancellor’s Nominee, Osmania University for selections of teaching positions; Member, DST-PURSE, Programme Implementation Committee; Chairman, Research Standards Improvement Committee.  Besides, he has occupied many choicest posts in S.V. University and other Universities: Coordinator, UGC-COSIST and DST-FIST Programmes; Advisory Member, UGC-DRS. Dept. of Zoology, S.V. University; Special officer, University-Industry-Interactions, S.V.University; Executive Editor, Indian Journal of Comparative Animal Physiology; Member, Scientific Committee, SECOTOX, Bhuvaneswar, India; and Member, Advisory Committee – International Conference on Environmental Pollution, Water and Health, Bangalore, India, 2010.

Prof. Reddy was in the U.S for about 8 years on different academic as well as professional assignments and had been at the helm of many coveted positions. He was the Visiting Scientist of National Academies: Research Council (NRC-USA), U.S Environmental Protection Agency, NC, University of Rhode Island, Kingston; Savannah State University, Savannah; University of Washington, Seattle, and Research Consultant, Savannah State University, Savannah; Meharry Medical College, Nahsville, between 1983 and 2007.

Prof. Reddy’s erudition and scholastic endeavours have bestowed upon him many awards by National and International academic bodies that betoken his academic excellence and vision: Science and Technology Achievement (STAA) Award of USEPA, USA, 2010; A.P Govt’s. Meritorious Teacher Award, Government of Andhra Pradesh, 2009; Best Scientist of the year Award, National Environmental Science Academy, India, 2001; Taylor and Francis - American College of Toxicology, USA., President’s Best Research Award, 2001; First Place Research Award, EPA Science Forum, Washington DC, USA., 2006; Travel and Maintenance Award KOSHA (Korea), 2005; Fellowship Award International Society of Chemistry and Environment, 2004; International Travel Awards (DST, CSIR, UGC, ICMR, APCOST), 1992-2009, and 2011; Dedicated Service Award:  HCOP Program, Savannah State University, USA, 2000, are a few among his much acclaimed laurels won.

            He has 84 National and International publications in journals of great impact and repute. He has produced 14 Ph.Ds, 09 M.Phils and 08 Ph.Ds are in progress under his supervision. In addition, he has authored 3 books which have been widely acclaimed.  He attended and presented his research in 50 National Conferences/Seminars and 24 International Conferences/Seminars in the USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Scotland, Kuwait and Korea.

            His has completed 10 Research Projects funded by DST, UGC, and CSIR, and 05 major Research Projects on hand.  The most prominent and reputed among these projects is the one sponsored by National Academics – NRC, USA, A Collaborative Grant worth $193,000. He has in hand 05 projects funded by CSIR, DST, DRDE, ICMR, and DRDO.  Besides, he was the Director of a National Workshop on Advanced Methods of Studying Brain and Behaviour, 2011, Chairman, International Symposium on Environmental Pollution, Ecology and Human Health, 2009, and he is empanelled as the Secretary and Organizing Secretary of many conferences. He has received the training finesse in the USA in Electron Microsopy, Principles of Radiation Protection, Teaching Radiation, etc. His invited talks have been the factors of thrust and ingenuity at several conferences and Universities: Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur; Andhra University, Visakhapatnam; SRMT University, Nanded; Karunya University, Coimbatore; Bangalore University, Bangalore, etc.

            Prof. Reddy has been the Reviewer of many International Research Journals: Developmental Neurobiology, Experimental Neurology, Acta Biochimica Biophysica Sinica, etc., to name a few. He was also the Member, Editorial Board of Research Journals, India, Journal of Chemistry and Environment, Current Trends in Biotechnology and Pharmacy, Indian Journal of Comparative Animal Physiology. etc.

Prof. G. Rajarami Reddy with a forthright vision is intent on shaping the University into a potential centre of excellence and a breeding ground of employable human force. He is keen on getting 12(b) for the University and took upon himself the unfinished tasks of providing a stable structure for housing the University at the site allotted with funds being raised from the Government and has borne out his plans to invite and seek donations from philanthropists and academic benefactors.

With his immense exposure, his much acclaimed learning and admiration of his well-wishers and acquaintances at the National and International level, the University is all set to keep abreast of the momentum with a touch of aggression under the leadership of Prof. G. Rajarami Reddy.
