NRIs promise to award gold medals to toppers
A few NRIs plan to visit the district shortly
March 17, 2010:  Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor, C.R.Visweswara Rao, has said that the industrialists of Nellore district, who are settled in the U.S.A, have assured to contribute funds for developing the new university.
Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Prof. Rao, said that the NRIs, belonging to the pharmacy sector in Texas, New Jersey and other places, responded positively and assured to extend their help during his 15-day tour of U.S.A.
They inquired about the university's achievements in the past two years and praised the management for the development.

The NRIs, including Kurapati Sridhar Reddy from Bitragunta, Chillakur Gopi of Naidupeta and other members of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), Telugu Association of North Texas (TANTEX) and American Telugu Association (ATA) promised financial contribution for improving the standards of VSU.
They assured of awarding gold medals to the toppers, open a dynamic website and raise funds for the construction of an administrative building, laboratories, hostels and other structures in the site allotted at Kakuturu village in Nellore district, said the Vice-Chancellor.
A few NRIs will visit the site and discuss fund requirements for the new buildings, said Prof. Rao.

Collaboration
Registrar V.Narayana Reddy said that the VSU was planning to have an academic collaboration with Pennsylvania University on research programmes in Biotechnology and Marine Biology.
The VSU management had recently held talks with the foreign university in this regard.
The university officials are slated to meet the NRIs during the Telugu Mahasabhas at Chicago in June this year to discuss the development of the university, said Prof. Reddy.
