March 16, 2011: “It is the moral responsibility to conduct examinations in a fair and proper manner to inspire confidence in the public and redeem faith in the higher education system,” said Prof. C.R. Visweswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor, in the meeting with the UG Principals conducted on 16th March 2011. Principals from 54 UG colleges affiliated to Vikrama Simhapuri University attended the meeting. As the UG First year examinations are going to be conducted from 23rd March 2011, Prof. Rao said that let not the higher education system get derailed through malpractices in the examinations. With a view to ensuring fair conduct of the examinations, he said that the University adopted Basic Jumbling pattern. He said that the University is appointing observers and special observers to keep a strict vigil on the conduct of the examinations. The University adopted Ink Character Reading (ICR) answer scripts as a check on any tampering with the answer sheets. He advised the colleges to strengthen the internal vigilance mechanism of inspecting the examinations halls from time to time. Calling the examination centres as sealed premises, he asked the Principals to see that the question papers are kept in safe custody and no scope is given for any leakages.
Sri P.Padmanabha Reddy, representative of the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Hyderabad, attended the meeting to convey that the Commissionerate is keen on conducting the UG examinations in a fair manner. He said that the colleges should initiate strict measures before permitting the students into examination halls to curb copying and malpractice tendency in them.
Prof.V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar said that strict invigilation and proper conduct of the examinations shall lend prestige to the colleges. He further said that mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the examination halls and neither students not invigilators should carry them.
