About 31.85 percent students passed the first year degree examination conducted by Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in April this year. The new university, which conducted the examinations for the first time, announced the results on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference here, VSU Vice-Chancellor C. R. Visweswara Rao said a total of 8,802 students appeared for the examinations in seven courses of which only 31.85 per cent students passed. Malpractice cases, which were around 250 last year came down to 40 this year, said Prof. Rao.
The highest pass percentage of 89.55 was recorded in BCA stream, while the lowest of 12.75 was in BA stream, followed by 31.34 in B.Com and 33.94 in B.Sc.
VSU Registrar V. Narayana Reddy said most of the students failed in English and appealed to the degree college managements to focus on appointing good faculty and on improving teaching skills in English subject.
Marks memos
The marks memos of the candidates would be sent to the Principals of the colleges concerned and students can collect them from the institutions. The results and the prescribed format of re-valuation/re-totalling and other details were available on the university website, said Mr. Reddy.
Examination branch superintendent P. M. Ranganatham, media coordinator Narasimha Rao and other staff were present at the press conference.
