The seven-day school and workshop on the practical aspects of analytical chemistry being held at the Sri Krishnadevaraya University came to a close today.
Speaking at the valedictory function, the chief guest of the function and the Vice-Chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University, Dr. Raja Rami Reddy, said that the university should be congratulated for having been the first ever in the country to host such a school-cum-workshop on the emerging trends and practical aspects of analytical chemistry, which has become a very important and relevant field in modern times.
The seven-day school is being held on the practical aspects of analytical chemistry in the SKU by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS) along with Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry of India (AEACI) in co-operation with BARC. More than 60 research scholars attended the workshop which held wide ranging scientific experiments and analysis of various samples of pollutants taken from various parts of the district.
On the occasion, Prof. Raja Rami Reddy said Analytical Chemistry has made huge strides in the last few years and said that the sophistication with which one could routinely ascertain impurities in any given substance to the order of parts per billion stands as an acknowledgement to the fact.
SKU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramakrishna Reddy complimented the the Chemistry Department and BARC for conducting the workshop and appreciated the work done at the workshop by analysis of soil, water and air pollutants around Anantapur district.
On the other hand, the correspondent of the SSBN Degree College in Anantapur, who attended the function as a guest of honour, appreciated the efforts taken in training scholars in areas like safe practices in chemical laboratory, quality control, quality assurance, nuclear analytical techniques etc. He opined that such workshops go a long way in developing research potential in students.
