The V-C along with Registrar V. Narayana Reddy visited the boys hostel in NBKR Institute of Technology at Vidyanagar. The officials enquired the students on whether they were facing any harassment or ragging from the senior students either in class rooms, college or on hostel premises.

Mr. Rao directed the college officials to put up posters indicating the penal punishment for students involved in ragging and explain the youngsters on A.P. Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997. He advised the students to bring to the notice of the university officials, if any student resorted to ragging or teasing. The registrar inspected the VSU hostel in Nellore city recently and enquired the students about their well being. He asked the hostel warden, Veera Reddy, on whether the seniors were meeting the freshers in the dormitories and asked Mr.Reddy to keep a vigil during night hours.

In a meeting, Mr. Visweswara Rao asked the students not to resort to ragging and spoil the future. VSU has constituted an anti-ragging committee headed by the Registrar and faculty and students as members.

He directed the college managements to constitute anti-ragging squads with teaching and non-teaching staff, students, parents and student union leaders. The institution managements should arrange ‘freshers day' which would provide a platform for interaction between the senior and junior students, he said.

Mr.Narayana Reddy said the Vikrama Simhapuri University has constituted an Anti-Ragging Cell to prevent the menace and no complaint was received so far. Stringent action would be taken against the college managements as per law, if any such incident is noticed in the district, he warned.
