SVU PG Centre given to VSU

It is indeed a red letter day for Vikrama Simhapuri University for it is given the SVU PG Centre, Kavali, which is under Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.  Prof. C.R. Visweswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor spoke to media about the transfer of the P.G centre and said that it is indeed a memorable day for the University which came into being fulfilling the long cherished dreams of the people of SPSR Nellore district for having a higher seat of learning going strength to strength every year. After the University has been given the affiliated colleges in Nellore jurisdiction in April 2010 which were formerly affiliated to S. V. University, Tirupati, the transfer of the PG Centre, Kavali is indeed a much cherished moment in the academic progress of the VSU, Nellore.  With SVU PG Centre, Kavali under its fold now, the University has also become the first University to have two campuses one at Nellore and other being at Kavali.
            The PG Centre at Kavali came into being in 1973 under Visvodaya Trust with two courses, namely, Economics and Commerce. Now the PG Centre has 12 PG courses out of which 5 courses are regular and 7 courses are self-supporting departments. There are 20 regular teaching staff and about 25 teaching assistants supported by 140 non-teaching staff. The PG centre is in a sprawling campus of 79 acres with infrastructure of about 5 crores.   
            PG Centre, Kavali is given to the University at the opportune moment since the University has applied for 12(b) and also for the catch up grant of the UGC. Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar said that it is a great moment in the academic aspirations of the people of Nellore that the University’s vision has been strengthened by the new possession.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. C.R. Visweswara Rao thanked the MLAs, MLCs, of the district and Hon’ble Minister Sri. Anam Ram Narayan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Damodar Raj Narsimha, Former Minister for Higher Education, Sri. D. Sridhar Babu  and the Chief Minister of A.P for their well-wishing.
