Advanced research applied for academic and social fulfillment

March 12, 2011: “Research in advanced areas has to be actively pursued not only to bring completeness to academics but also to provide viable remedies for social emancipation,” said Prof. C.R. Visweswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor reviewing the Research and Development activities undertaken by the members of faculty of the University on 12th March 2011. Initiating the Research and Development Review, Prof. Rao said that the Universities are looked up to for their research activity and it is the responsibility of the faculty to explore the emerging areas to provide solutions at the regional level with a holistic view. He also said that this exercise is undertaken only to make the faculty develop a steady vision and establish good networking with the eminent researchers in premier institutions of the country and abroad.  Dwelling further, he said that this will motivate the faculty to step up their research activities and apply for projects from the Higher Research Funding Agencies like DST, DBT, UGC, etc.,
    The University constituted Research and Development Committee Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and consisting of Prof. M.K.Durga Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, Krishna University, Machilipatnam, Prof. D. Narayana Rao, Director (Research), Bhatnagar Award Winner, SRM University, Chennai, Prof. A. Sri Krishna, IISc, Benguluru, Bhatnagar Award Winner, and Prof. P. Kondaiah, IISc, Benguluru.  All the Departments made presentations on their areas of current research and the future directions of their research. The Committee was extremely happy with the presentations and suggested that the faculty should ally with ISRO, National Remote Sensing Agency etc., and explore advanced areas like Cloud Computing and Open Flow Software in the next few years. Greater focus, the Committee said, should be laid on Bio-Diversity Studies.
    Each Department presented details of individual research activities like Paper publications, Seminars and Workshops organized and attended, project proposals submitted, research outlook, vision for the next few years, through power point presentations on which the Committee conducted a close scrutiny. Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar, coordinated the activity.
