VSU Research Scholars get Rajiv Gandhi Fellowships

“Three Research scholars of Vikrama Simhapuri University got Rajiv Gandhi Research Fellowships during this year,” said Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar. He said that the Union Human Resources Ministry gives these incentive fellowships to the research students to encourage Research and Development at the University level.  These fellowships are given to the SC & ST students enabling them to go for research and patenting.
    This is really encouraging, said Prof. Reddy, especially, to the new Universities consequent on Vice-Chancellor, Prof. C.R.Visweswara Rao in a recent communication to the UGC, made a plea to encourage the new Universities to embark on higher research on par with the established Universities in the state. The Vice-Chancellor in his plea mentioned that the new Universities being recognized under 2(f) may be encouraged by incentivizing the students and also by providing project grants to the teachers to promote research, he said.
    Of the seven research scholars eligible to apply for the fellowship, three students got them. Two students in Computer Science Department and one in Biotechnology Department got them. A scholarship of Rs. 12000- per month will be given to the students under this fellowship, said the Registrar.
