Arrangements for Chief Minister's visit reviewed

Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy visited the 83-acre site allotted for Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) at Kakuturu village in Venkatachalam mandal, where Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy will lay foundation stone for construction of university building, in Nellore district on Friday.

The Minister along with Guntur Range Inspector General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, Sarvepalli MLA Adala Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy, VSU Vice-Chancellor C.R.Visweswara Rao, Collector B.Sreedhar, Registrar V.Narayana Reddy and Project Director (Housing) K.B.Venkateswara Reddy visited the site on Friday and enquired about the arrangements.

Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy will participate in a series of programmes including laying foundation stone for VSU administrative block, academic building and women's hostel on the site.

Mr. Visweswara Rao explained that an 60-feet approach road is being laid from National Highway-5 to the venue where the Chief Minister will perform ‘bhoomi puja'. Arrangements are being made for public meeting to be addressed by Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Officials from Roads and Buildings, Panchayat Raj, AP Health Medical and Infrastructure (APHMIDC) and Housing Departments are making arrangements at the site, said Mr.Rao.

Registrar Mr.Narayana Reddy said a brief note would be submitted to the Chief Minister on the activities and the achievements of the new university. He said the staff and students of VSU and Kavali Post Graduate Centre will attend for the ground breaking ceremony and appealed to the affiliated college managements in the district to attend the programme.

The Minister enquired about the security arrangements with IG Harish Kumar, Superintendent of Police B.V. Ramana Kumar, Nellore Revenue Divisional Officer Madhavi Latha Reddy and other officials.

Statues

Later, speaking to the newsmen, the Minister said Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy would unveil the statues of Babu Jagjeevan Ram and Y.S.Rajashekara Reddy in the city. He will distribute Identity Cards to tenant farmers and address a public meeting at Venkatagiri Raja's College Grounds and inaugurate the underground drainage works.

Mr.Kiran Kumar will also address Congress and Praja Rajyam Party activists at Kasturi Devi Vidyalayam, and review with the officials of various development works.
