About the University
Vikrama Simhapuri University reflects the vision of the National Knowledge Commission that new universities ought to widen the access to higher education promoting equity and contribute to the making of a value-oriented knowledge society. The University came into being on 25th June, 2008.The University is currently offering eight courses MBA,MCA,MA(English), M.Sc (Marine Biology), M.Sc (Organic Chemistry),Five years Integrated Biotechnology, MSW (Master of  Social Work), MHM(Master of Hospital Management).In addition, MBA(Tourism Management )is going to be launched from this academic year onwards.126 Affiliated Colleges in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District, formerly Under Sri Venkateswara University following the directive of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
About the department:
With the rapid industrialization of the district and massive land acquisition by the industries, the phenomenon of labour migracy and issues of rehabilitation and relocation, employment generation for the displaced have become matters of concern. The department of social work, through its project work and course design as well, will tackle these issues and generate socio-economic studies useful to the public and the government. Similarly, Environment protection, Disaster Management will be of the constituent units of the MSW course, given the long coastline and the frequency of occurrence of cyclones and the rapidity with which rehabilitation exercises have to be organised as a major crisis management issue. A number of government departments have come forward to lend support for the execution of project studies by this department in view of the analytical components it can bring to bear on its inquiry and the database that it can provide.

MSW course provides training to students in various fields such as family, child, youth welfare, rural and urban development, medical and psychiatric settings, industrial relations and personal management and also in correctional services. Department of Social Work, Vikrama Simhapuri University has a mission and vision in providing contemporary education in social issues/social problems
About Seminar:
The focal point of the present seminar is to discuss about the impact of climatic change on environment, human health, agriculture, marine life, industries, natural resources and on bio-diversity. Further it throws light on various environmental laws, protection measures, national, international committees’ deliberations and its implementation to preserve the earth. The seminar aims at to bring experts to enlighten the participants about various programmes implemented and necessary strategies that should be developed to minimize the global warming and its impact on environment. Hope this type of knowledge gatherings facilitate exchange of views and develop suitable interventions to mitigate the ill effects of climatic change.
Objectives
The objectives of the seminar are
  • To hold deliberations on the concept and meaning of climate change, its consequences and impact on environment, human health, agriculture and other lively hoods.
  • To throw insights on the impact of climate change on natural resources: coastal ecosystem, deforestation, disasters.
  • To highlight the impact of industrialization, urbanization, population growth and environmental pollution on climatic change and to suggest necessary measures to be adopted to minimize the (ill effects of climate change) impact.
·         To document the existing response of government and other organizations to promote sustainable environment and suggest further measures to be taken.
Sub- themes: To facilitate the participation of experts from different fields, the sub themes of the seminar are as follows:
·         Climate Change: Green House Effect, Health Problems, Eco-Agro cultural changes, Costal Ecosystem and Pollution Control.
·         Climate Change: Industrialization, Urbanization, Population Growth, Natural Resources, Deforestation and Disasters-Need of Mitigating Measures.
·         Ramification of Government and Non – Government Organizations Interventions at Micro, Macro Level .
·         Professional Responsibility, Social Work Role in Intervention Strategy Development and Promotion of Sustainable Environment.
Invited talks will be organised with renowned resource persons on all themes
Guidelines:
Abstracts of 300 words (with 12pt,1.5 line space in Times New Roman) should be sent before 7th July through mail . PPTs, Full papers have to be submitted at time of presentation. An edited book will be brought on selected papers.

 Registration fee: Rs.200 for faculty and Rs.100 for student is to be paid at the time of registration.
Accommodation &Transport: Accommodation will be provided free of cost on sharing basis. Participants in seminar are requested to obtain TA from their parent institutions.
