The State government has released Rs.10 crore additional grant for the Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU).
The amount would be used for construction of buildings for the new university, said VSU Registrar V.Narayana Reddy.
Speaking to the newsmen here on Saturday, he said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy during his recent visit to Nellore district has assured to sanction additional grant for the university. On October 21, the Finance Department has issued the GO sanctioning the amount.
Already, the university is having Rs.12.5 crore and with the fresh grant, the figure rose to Rs. 22.5 crore and the university will start construction of the academic building, hostel, library, auditorium and other structures in the 84 acre site allotted for VSU at Kakuturu village on Nellore outskirts, said Mr. Reddy.
Results Released
The registrar released the B.Ed. results at the administrative building here on Saturday. Of the 2,034 candidates appeared for the examinations, 1,550 were passed (76 percent). Girls outnumbered boys with 81 per cent pass percentage in the results, said Mr. Narayana Reddy.
Stating that the university management has observed poor amenities in some B.Ed colleges in the district, the registrar said the VSU will constitute a high power committee soon and conduct surprise checks to verify the teaching and non-teaching staff particulars and infrastructure in B.Ed. colleges, he said.
The university management will not compromise in providing quality education for the students and asked the college managements to cooperate with the government in this regard.

VSU in-charge Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhakara Rao, founder Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao and the Registrar thanked the government and Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy for sanctioning the grant for the university.
Examinations branch (coordinator) Dr. Ch. Venkatrayalu, media coordinator K.Narasimha Rao, examinations branch superintendent P. Ranganatham, staff Radha, Sudha, Radhika, Sailaja and others were among those who released the results.
