VSU Registrar felicitated by staff on completing tenure

The staff of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) on Sunday felicitated Registrar V. Narayana Reddy for successfully completing three years of office. Mr. Reddy, a professor in Anthropology in Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tirupati, assumed office in August 2008.
Teaching and non-teaching staff of the university felicitated Mr. Narayana Reddy with shawls and offered bouquets and sweets to him. The new university has crossed many a milestones in the last three years under the able administration of Mr. Reddy, said the VSU College Development Council Dean Prof. T.Sudha.
New courses
Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar said the budding university has been developed in all aspects under the leadership of former Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao. The university in-charge Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhakara Rao is keen on introducing new courses and improve infrastructure in the varsity, he said.
Stating that the new universities were the dream projects of late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekara Reddy to promote higher education in rural areas, the Registrar said the universities established in 2008, are giving fruits now and the first batch of students who completed the courses secured good jobs in reputed companies in AP and the neighbouring States.
Grant
Mr. Narayana Reddy thanked Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and other public representatives for granting Rs.10 crore additional grant for construction of new buildings for the institution. The new university was developed in all aspects with the cooperation of staff and the officials, he said.
“I worked as professor in SVU for a few years. But, the three years stint as Registrar gave immense satisfaction for me in running the university with experienced Vice-Chancellors. Apart from teaching field, I learnt a lot about good administration in the last three years”, said Mr. Reddy.
He stressed the need for improving the enrolment ratio in higher education, particularly from rural areas. The Registrar asked the degree, PG and professional colleges to focus on improving communication skills among students which is very much essential in the present scenario.
VSU will start construction of buildings in the 84 acre land allotted in Kakuturu village, near Nellore. The university has made MoU with all major industries in and around the district for providing employment for students immediately after completing the courses, he said.
