Minister releases first newsletter of VSU

JUNE 16, 2010: Union Minister of State for HRD D.Purandareswari released the first newsletter of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) titled, Shruti, in Nellore on Tuesday.

 The newsletter highlights the academic, social and cultural activities taken up by the new university in the past two-and-a-half years in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, said university Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao. The Minister enquired the VC and Registrar V. Narayana Reddy about the courses being offered, recent developments and the objectives of VSU.

New curriculum

The Registrar explained that the varsity has introduced a number of components in the curriculum as per the recommendations of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Mr. Rao thanked the Minister for recommending the UGC to release one-time catch up grant for the new universities in the State.

The Vice-Chancellor appealed to the Minister to arrange liberal Central funding and financial allocations from the University Grants Commission for rapid growth of the budding university.

Nellore Town legislator Mungamuri Sridharkrishna Reddy, Rural legislator Anam Vivekananda Reddy and others were present.
