We have great pleasure in inviting you to the National Seminar on The Role of Biotechnology in a Sustainable Society.
THE COLLEGE
DUVVURU RAMANAMMA WOMEN’S COLLEGE briefly known as D.R.W. College was started in 1981 Affiliated to S. V. University area. Re-Accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade and also recognized as “college with Potential for Excellence” by UGC. The college has grown immensely in all aspects in 29 years. Spacious buildings, well equipped laboratories, libraries, Computer centre, Six Stationed Multi Gym, Play Ground and above all, experienced and student – caring faculty made DRW College a well developed Institution. The college offers Nine U.G. courses and Nine P.G. courses including MCA & MBA, along with seven UGC Career oriented Programs and 11 Need based job oriented courses.
The Philosophy of the Institution is to educate students about their rights and equal opportunities in all aspects of life and to raise their level of aspirations and achievements in the field of knowledge through latest techniques and to empower the women by imparting value based education. The Motto of the college is “Let noble thoughts come to us from every side”, hence, we always welcome innovative suggestions.
THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Biotechnology was started during the year 2004, and offers U.G. and P.G. Programmes in Biotechnology. The Department has well-equipped Laboratories and well-stacked reading-cum-reference Library, which serves to complement the Central Library of the Institute. The Department is backed with highly qualified faculty members with teaching as well as industrial experience in applied research areas. The Department also extends services to the R&D center.
The department has also taken the essential steps towards establishing the needed partnership with various companies/R&D Institutions. The department is engaged in various innovative projects.
THE EVENT
Biotechnology is a fast growing multidisciplinary applied science for human life. The seminar aims to provide an arena to meet futuristic opportunities in significance. A range of technical sessions, oral presentations and poster presentations will form the core part of event.
OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR
To discuss on current status of Biotechnology in food processing industry, agriculture biotechnology roles, socio-economic and cultural factors in society, nutrition and food safety, Intellectual property rights (IPRs) and royalties, commercial opportunities in society, appropriateness of Biotechnology in our country and the role of Bioinformatics in rural areas.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Original contributions / research works are invited. The participants are requested to submit the abstract to the Organizing Secretary through e-mail. The abstract should not exceed 200 words.
The abstract should be typed in MS word – Times New Romen with font size of 12 in 1.5 line space. It should give sufficient details and scope for discussion. Selected abstracts will be considered for oral presentations. Further correspondence will be through e-mail only.
POSTERS
Posters shall be prepared not exceeding 1x1m in size. Best posters presented will be selected for suitable awards.
SUBMISSION OF FULL PAPERS
Authors of accepted papers may send the final papers not exceeding 10 pages in A4 size sheets with Times New Romen with font size of 12 in 1.5 line space, including tables, annexures and figures. The final paper may be sent through email.
REGISTRATION FEE
1. Students/Research Scholars Rs.300/-
2. Faculty/Scientists/Industrialists Rs.400/-
The registration fee covers pre-conference material, seminar kit, lunch, tea and refreshments. Students / research scholars has to provide bonafied certificate from their institution.
