Teachers urged to upgrade skills

Nov 13, 2010: Speakers at the orientation programme for junior lecturers asked the teachers to update their knowledge from time-to-time and ignite the young minds for taking up researches.
The three-day ‘Orientation and Training Programme for English and Economics Junior Lecturers of Zone-III', being organised by the Department of Intermediate Education (DIE) commenced at Nellore on Friday. About 120 lecturers from various Government Junior and Aided Colleges of Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts attended the training session.

Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Registrar V. Narayana Reddy who was chief guest, said that intermediate is a turning point for every student in his/her education and the student will choose the course during this period. So, the role of teachers at plus two is very important for guiding the students in all aspects. The quality of education provided for children at intermediate level will help them taking up job-oriented degree, PG and other professional courses.

Mr. Reddy underlined the need to involve professionals from corporate institutions in the orientation programmes, to enable the faculty to learn on millennium development goals, World Bank Projects, investments in different fields, and the economic position of various countries in the world.

Stating that the government educational institutions were following the age old syllabus for the last few years, the registrar emphasised the need for revision of curriculum as per the changing trends.

State Institute of Vocational Education Professor K.B. Rajendra Prasad said lecturers should update their knowledge and motivate the students on the developments in the society. Ratnam Group of Educational Institutions vice-chairman N. Satyanarayana also spoke.
