104-ACCOUNTING FOR MANAGERS
UNIT-I
The aim of the course is to provide an understanding of accounting concepts and procedures relevant to managerial decision making.
a)      Principles,nature and scope of accounting in business – Double entry system of accounting – Preparation of Journals, ledgers and trail balance (problems and cases)
b)      Final accounts – Preparation of Annual reports, Trading, profit and Loss Accounts and Balance sheet with adjustments (problems and cases)
UNIT-II
Depreciation – Concept of depreciation – purpose of depreciation – methods of depreciation – straight line method, written down value method, sinking fund method and other methods (problems and cases)
UNIT-III
Preparation of Budgets, objectives – importance, cash budgets, sales budgets and production budgets (problems and cases)
UNIT-IV
a)      Intoduction to computerised accounting system – Computerised processing of journalisation, posting, preparation of trial balance, trading and profit and loss accounts and balance sheet, cycles, financial cycle. (no problems and case, only theory)
b)      Emerging concepts of inflation accounting and Human resource accounting (no problems and case, only theory)
c)       Responsibility  account – responsibility centres – need – cost centre, profit centre and investment centre – responsibility performance reporting – Non financial measures of performance (no problems and case, only theory)
d)      International Accounting standards – objectives – Accounting – standards in India – Importance, differences between IAS and Indian GAAP. (no problems and cases, only theory)
