Dodla Kousalyamma Women's (DKW) Government College has got the ‘A' Grade by National Assessment and Accredited Council (NAAC). The peer team from NAAC, Bangalore, visited the college recently and based on its assessment accredited ‘A' Grade for the institution, said college principal A. Sarada Devi.
Speaking to the newsmen here on Saturday, she said DKW Government College is one among the four government colleges which got ‘A' grade in the State.
The college achieved the top grade with the cooperation of Commissionerate of College Education, Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU), College Planning and Development Committee (CPDC) and the NAAC Steering Committee.
The grade has increased the responsibility of the college and the staff and students will accept the ‘A' Grade with joy and commitment, said Dr. Sarada Devi.
JKC facility
DKW College, the only government women's college in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, is offering several degree and PG Courses and giving guidance for Ph.D and M.Phil (research programmes). The institution is having three computer labs and a digital library.
The Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) in the college is imparting training in employability skills and is taking up recruitment drives. DKW Government Women's College is having hostel facility with 100 rooms and over 800 students, including the VSU students, are being accommodated in the hostel.
The college is having A6-station gym, indoor and outdoor games and the students participated in National Women's Athletic Championship and also in National-level Kho-Kho Championship recently. Besides, the students are doing service activities through NCC, NSS, Consumer Club and Red Ribbon Clubs, said Ms. Sarada Devi.
VSU in-charge Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhakara Rao, founder Vice-Chancellor C.R.Visweswara Rao, Registrar V.Narayana Reddy and College Development Council Dean T. Sudha complimented the DKW College management and staff for achieving ‘A' grade by NAAC.
The institute got the top grade for having good infrastructure, faculty and other facilities along with students' discipline, said the Registrar.
