VSU Newsletter released

Higher Education Department Principal Secretary M.G.Gopal released the third newsletter of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in the university campus here.
The letter contains the achievements of the budding university like conduct of national level seminars and workshops on various issues, steps being taken to strengthen the university-industry relationship, introduction of new courses, NSS activities, placements, establishment of new buildings, success stories of students and research scholars.
VSU former Vice-Chancellor C.R.Visweswara Rao explained the plans of the new university in promoting employability by having tie-up with different industries in the vicinity. The management has made project work compulsory for all courses and involved industry in the identification of suitable projects that promote industry-grade skills to enable the students to be empowered the moment they step out of the portals of the institution.
The university has established a state-of-the-art computer laboratory with internet facility, set up a language laboratory and made communication skills an essential component under CBCS. The management has also installed seamless broadband connectivity under NMEICT Project at a cost of R.45 lakh with the cooperation of BSNL, said Mr.Rao. Registrar V.Narayana Reddy disclosed that VSU is planning to start `Tikkana Centre for Research' with UGC support. Tikkana Somayaji, the second poet of `Kavi Trayam' translated the 15 `parvams' of Mahabharatam on the banks of Penna river in Nellore. The objective of the research centre is to focus not only on Tikkana and other famous epic poets, but also on ancient trends of thoughts which illuminate contemporary trends. The centre would focus on the broad are of cultural studies accommodating the Jainist, Bhuddist and Satecs of Nellore cultural life through the centuries, said Mr.Reddy. Stating that Vikrama Simhapuri Univesrsity is starting M.A (Telugu) with writing in media as a component from this academic year, the Registrar said the curriculum for the new course is devised in such a way that the classics get their due attention in the modern trends in the usage of languages. The Principal Secretary praised the university management for its achievements made in a short period. He stressed the need to focus on improving communication skills among the students in the university as well as the affiliated institutions.
